چکیده

An imprecise point is a point p with an associated imprecision region Ip indicating the set of possible locations of the point p. We study separability problems for a set R of red imprecise points and a set B of blue imprecise points in R, where the imprecision regions are axis-aligned rectangles and each point p ∈ R∪B is drawn uniformly at random from Ip. Our results include algorithms for finding certain separators (separating R from B with probability 1), possible separators (separating R from B with non-zero probability), most likely separators (separating R from B with maximal probability), and maximal separators (maximizing the expected number of correctly classified points).

Approximate Minimum Diameter

We study the minimum diameter problem for a set of inexact points. By inexact, we mean that the precise location of the points is not known. Instead, the location of each point is restricted to a continues region (Imprecise model) or a finite set of points (Indecisive model). Given a set of inexact points in one of Imprecise or Indecisive models, we wish to provide a lower-bound on the diameter...

Ranking DMUs by ideal points in the presence of fuzzy and ordinal data

Envelopment Analysis (DEA) is a very eective method to evaluate the relative eciency of decision-making units (DMUs). DEA models divided all DMUs in two categories: ecient and inecientDMUs, and don't able to discriminant between ecient DMUs. On the other hand, the observedvalues of the input and output data in real-life problems are sometimes imprecise or vague, suchas interval data, ordinal da...

Separability by two lines and by flat polygonals∗

In this paper we study the separability in the plane by two criteria: double wedge separability and constant turn separability. We give O(N logN)-time optimal algorithms for computing all the separating double wedges of two disjoint sets of objects (points, segments, polygons and circles) and the flattest minimal constant turn polygonal line separating two sets of points.

Evaluation of Tests for Separability and Symmetry of Spatio-temporal Covariance Function

In recent years, some investigations have been carried out to examine the assumptions like stationarity, symmetry and separability of spatio-temporal covariance function which would considerably simplify fitting a valid covariance model to the data by parametric and nonparametric methods. In this article, assuming a Gaussian random field, we consider the likelihood ratio separability test, a va...

On Separating Points by Lines

Given a set P of n points in the plane, its separability is the minimum number of lines needed to separate all its pairs of points from each other. We show that the minimum number of lines needed to separate n points, picked randomly (and uniformly) in the unit square, is Θ̃(n), where Θ̃ hides polylogarithmic factors. In addition, we provide a fast approximation algorithm for computing the separa...
